About Attending a RISE! Forum

People come to RISE! Forums to begin the process of transforming special education in their communities.

We hear a lot of discussion about  what is not working in education today. At a RISE Forum, participants focus on how we can work together to get the outcomes our students want and deserve.

You will Join students, families, teachers, service providers, health care workers, advocates, and educators for frank, constructive conversations about not only the issues, but possible solutions. There are no requirements to participate except desire and a commitment to thoughtful, respectful speech.

Come to listen. Come to speak. Come to observe. Walk in each other's shoes - or wheels; get to know each other in a new way. We are starting a new conversation. People created the system. People have the ability to change the system. We are able!

At the end of the RISE! Forum, participants may share their ideas and develop action plans. RISE! Forum facilitators take notes, group together similar ideas and make them available to participants after the Forum.

When You Arrive . . . You will be greeted, receive a name tag, & have a chance to mingle.

Next . . . A few participants share their special education stories.

Then . . . you will find a table you want to join. A guide at the table will lead your group through a focused discussion.

Repeat . . . the round table discussions are repeated for 3-4 topics. When it's time to change topics, you join a new table or stay at the same table. It's up to you.

9:00 a.m. - Noon
